【原文】 天下事有难易乎?为之,则难者亦易矣;不为,则易者亦难矣。人之为学有难易乎?学之,则难者亦易矣;不学,则易者亦难矣。

蜀之鄙有二僧,其一贫,其一富。贫者语于富者曰:“吾欲之南海,何如?”

富者曰:“子何恃而往?”

曰:“吾一瓶一钵足矣。”

富者曰:“吾数年来欲买舟而下,犹未能也。子何恃而往!”

越明年,贫者自南海还,以告富者。富者有惭色。

西蜀之去南海,不知几千里也,僧富者不能至而贫者至焉。人之立志,顾不如蜀鄙之僧哉?



【译文】
天下的事情有困难和容易的区别吗?只要做,那么困难的事情也容易了;如果不做,那么容易的事情也困难了。人们做学问有困难和容易的区别吗?只要学习,那么困难的也容易了;不学习,那么容易的也困难了。

四川的边境上有两个和尚,其中的一个贫穷,其中的一个富有。穷和尚对富和尚说:“我想去南海,怎么样?”

富和尚说:“您靠什么去呢?”

穷和尚说:“我靠着一个水瓶一个饭钵就足够了。”


富和尚说:“我几年来想雇船而往下游走,还没有能够去成。您靠什么能去!”

到了第二年,穷和尚从南海回来了,告诉富和尚。富和尚显出了惭愧神色。

四川距离南海,不知道有几千里路,富和尚不能到达可是穷和尚到达了。一个人立志求学,难道还不如四川边境的那个穷和尚吗?

【概况】
现属于试验版六年级28课《为学》,原题目为《为学一首示子侄》,有删节。
【原文】天下事有难易乎?为之,则难者亦易矣;不为,则易者亦难矣。人之为学有难易乎?学之,则难者亦易矣;不学,则易者亦难矣。
蜀之鄙,有二僧:其一贫,其一富。贫者语于富者曰:"吾欲之南海,何如?"
富者曰:"子何恃而往?"
曰:"吾一瓶一钵足矣。"
富者曰:"吾数年来欲买舟而下,犹未能也,子何恃而往!"

【译文】
天下的事有困难和容易的区别吗?只要去做,困难的事也变容易了;如果不做,容易的事也变困难了。人们求学有困难和容易的区别吗?只要去学,困难的事也变容易了;如果不学,容易的事也变困难了。
我的天资昏昧,不及别人;我的才能平庸, 不及别人。只要每天认真学习,长久坚持毫不松懈,等到成功了,也就不知道我是昏昧又平凡的了。我天资聪明、才能敏捷,超过别人几倍。如果摒弃不用,就与昏昧和平庸没有区别了。孔子的思想言论,最终是靠天资迟钝的曾参传下来的。以此而论,昏昧平庸与聪明灵敏的功用,难道是有常规的吗?
四川的边境有两个和尚,其中一个贫穷,一个富有。穷和尚告诉富和尚:“我要去南海,怎么样?”富和尚说:“你凭着什么去呀?”穷和尚说:“我有一个盛水的瓶子和一个盛饭的钵就足够了。”富和尚说:“我几年来一直想雇船沿着长江往下游走,还没去成呢。你凭着什么去呀?”到了第二年,穷和尚从南海回来,把事情告诉了富和尚,富和尚露出了惭愧的神色。
西边的蜀地距离南海不知道有几千里远啊。有钱的和尚不能到,没有钱的和尚却可以到达。人们要树立志向,难道还不如蜀地边境的和尚吗?所以聪明和才能,既可以依靠,又不可以依靠;自己靠着聪明与敏捷而不努力学习的人,就会失败。昏昧和平庸,可以限制人又不可以限制人;不被自己的昏昧和平庸限制,而不知疲倦、努力学习的人,会靠自己的努力获得成功

第一段:
为学原文:天下事有难易乎?为之,则难者亦易矣;不为,则易者亦难矣。人之为学有难易乎 学之,则难者亦易矣;不学,则易者亦难矣。
白话今译:天下事有困难和容易的区别吗?去做,那么困难的事也变容易了;不做,那么容易的事也成了困难。我们做学问有困难和容易的区别吗?用心学习,那么困难的也变容易了;不学习,那么本来容易的也成了困难。
English translated:Is there anything difficult for us to do?Just do it and it would be easy;If you don't,it would be a difficult.Is there anything difficult for us to study ? Just study it and it would be easy;If you don't,it would be diffcult.

第二段
为学原文:蜀之鄙有二僧,其一贫,其一富。贫者语于富者曰:“吾欲之南海,何如?”
白话今译:四川边境上住有两个和尚,其中一个贫穷一个富有。穷和尚对富和尚说:“我想去南海,你觉得怎么样?”
English translated:There were two monks on the border of Sichuan Province,one is poor,the other is rich.The poor said to the rich,"I want to Nanhai Sea,what do you think of it?"

第三段
为学原文:富者曰:“子何恃而往?”
白话今译:富和尚说:“您靠什么去呢?”
English translated:The rich asked,"What will you go with?"

第四段
为学原文:曰:“吾一瓶一钵足矣。”
白话今译:穷和尚说:“我靠着一个水瓶一个饭钵就足够了。”
English translated:The poor answered,"With one bottle and one bowl,that is enough for me."

第五段:
为学原文:富者曰:“吾数年来欲买舟而下,犹未能也。子何恃而往!”
白话今译:富和尚说:“我多年来想买船坐船到那里去,都还没去成呢。您靠什么能去!”
English translated:The rich said,"Since many years ago I have been meaning to go down there in a boat,but can't.Why can you say that!"

第六段:
为学原文:越明年,贫者自南海还,以告富者。富者有惭色。
白话今译:到了第二年,穷和尚从南海回来了,并把自己的经过告诉富和尚,富和尚脸上露有惭愧的神色。
English translated:One year later the poor monk returned from Nanhai Sea.When he told the adventure to the rich monk, the rich monk felt ashamed.

第七段:
为学原文:西蜀之去南海,不知几千里也,僧富者不能至而贫者至焉。人之立志,顾不如蜀鄙之僧哉?
白话今译:四川距离南海,不晓得有好几千里路啊?富和尚没能到达那里,穷和尚却到达了。一个人立志求学,难道会不如四川边境的那个穷和尚么?
English translated:There are so many thousands of miles from Western Sichuan to Nanhai Sea,as you know. The rich monk failed to go there, but the poor one went.If we make up our minds to do something,Who said we could not do better than the poor monk?

There is nothing difficult for us to do in the world. If we do it , the difficult thing will be easy; if we don’t , the easy thing will be difficult, There is nothing difficult for us to learn. If we learn it , the difficult thing will be easy; if we don’t , the easy thing will be difficult.
There lived two monks in the western frontier of Szechuan, one poor and the other rich. One day the poor monk said to the rich one.
“I want to go to Nanhai, what do you think?”
“On what do you depend for going there?”asked the rich monk .
“A bottle and a basin will suffice me ,”answered the other.
“Well, I have been meaning to go there by boat for many years,but failed .How could you go without any support!”
After one year the poor monk returned from Nanhai, and told his story to the rich one, who was ashamed to hear it .
It is so many thousand miles from the western frontier of Szechuan to Nanhai. The rich monk failed to go. but the poor one went. Couldn’t we make up our minds to do something as the poor monk of the western frontier of Szechuan did ?
